Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center
New Jersey has a great parks system and as one of our first activities (besides unpacking) we decided to go to the Manasquan water reservoir environmental center. This is just a 3 minute drive down the street from us and is open year round and is FREE!!!! It's a great little wildlife center with lot of weekly activities for the kids. Saturday was live animal day and they brought out an albino corn snake. Sara dressed up for the occasion wearing her wildlife shirt passed down from her aunt, boots, a scarf, and hat. It was only about 90 degrees out, but she didn't complain...she was just excited to dress in what she thought were perfect clothes for a wild life center. They also have bald eagles nesting there and a telescope set up to view their nest. No one is home now, but the ranger said in March you can see them feed their babies.
